Specialist Tour Guide (Gold):
Shall be those individuals who have a minimum of five years tour guiding experience and who have satisfied the TASA National Executive Council that they are providing an exceptional standard of service and that they are “expert” in both qualifications and experience in at least one area of specialized guiding. Applicants will have spent at least one year as a Professional Member and applications will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis by the TASA National Executive Council. As per the “2011 Tour Guide Information Sheet”, please provide TASA with the relevant certified documentation.
Annual 2011 Membership Fee: N$ 320.00
Professional Tour Guide (Silver):
One year as a Provisional Member must be served before Professional (Silver) Membership can be applied for.
Shall be those individuals who are working, full time or part time as a paid professional guide. Promotion to this category is subject to TASA National Executive Council approval and qualifications. As per the “2011 Tour Guide Information Sheet”, please provide TASA with the relevant certified documentation.
Issues & disputes:
- TASA has a vested interest in all Members, company or individual. Tour Guide Members will have direct access to the TASA EXCO should it be necessary to mediate on behalf of Members in the resolution of disputes, contractual issues any other problems concerning any Members in their professional capacity.
TASA Website:
- You will be offered a personal section on the TASA website to display your photograph and list your qualifications and experience. Other information such as references and specialised product-offering may also be accommodate.
Employment:
- TASA Members will be encouraged to draw from the TASA tour guide base when looking for either full time or freelance guides. TASA Members will also be offered a service to advertise vacancies through the TASA network. Such vacancies will be communicated to all TASA Silver and Gold Members.
Identification:
- You will be issued with a brass name badge that bears the TASA Tour Guide logo, your category of Membership and your name.
- Within the foreseeable future, TASA would like to have branded badges, patches, hats and other clothing available for sale to Professional and Specialist Tour Guide Members.
National Executive Council:
- A seat on the TASA National Executive Council has been created for a Professional(Silver) or Specialist (Gold) Member Tour Guide representative to actively participate in the monthly EXCO meetings. The representative has the opportunity to raise and discuss issues concerning tour guides.
Annual 2011 Membership Fee: N$ 320.00
Provisional Tour Guide (Bronze):
Is open to any individual whether they are working as a tour guide or whether they possess an interest to learn about the tour guiding industry with a view to becoming a guide. As per the “2011 Tour Guide Information Sheet”, please provide TASA with the relevant certified documentation.
Information:
- Monthly Tasa e-news with valuable information for the industry and tour guides.
- Additional communications when there are issues or information important to tour guides in particular.
- Access to the TASA office and data base.
TASA website:
- A new section on the TASA website has been created where Tour Guide Members names and contact details are listed.
Training:
- Discount on selected NATH, (Namibian Academy of Tourism & Hospitality) tour guide training courses and training tours. Details of discounts will be sent advise per e-mail correspondence. Funded mentorship and tour guide development is available, subject to EXCO approval – conditions apply!
Identification:
- You will receive a credit card sized TASA Tour Guide Identity Card which is valid for one calendar year.
National Executive Council:
- A seat on the TASA National Executive Council has been created for a Tour Guide representative to actively participate in the monthly EXCO meetings. The representative has the opportunity to raise and discuss issues concerning tour guides. Provisional (Bronze Members) are not be permitted to occupy this seat but are encouraged to nominate Professional(Silver) or Specialist (Gold) Members to the TASA EXCO. 2011 Membership Fee: N0,00 (VAT inclusive)
